Volatility of memory — Iran of the imaginary has become a lens though which personal feelings of displacement and longing can be conveyed. She is submerged in a water tank, we see her, not breathing in water; but we also see what she sees looking out of this alien, confining habitat, through the water ripples — a well-appointed living room, with shimmering warm light, fruit and crystal, elderly women fanning themselves in the summer’s heat. This dual vision speaks of incongruities of existence, and a desire to escape.
