Nosrat Nosratian, Fistula, 2009. Sound, 06:47
“This is the story of that disease that goes by the name of what… Fistula.” We face the protagonist as she point the TV remote at us, channel-surfing till she finds this point of interest. In the meantime, we are watching her, silent expressions telling another story. She recounts the story to invisible interlocutors – us? No, someone in the other room, chopping tomatoes. This mundane task soon calls for her attention, and takes her away from the “human-interest story” in a faraway country.
